The Importance of Safety in the Trucking Industry

As the largest tank truck carrier in the northeastern United States, Linden Bulk Transportation operates 675 trailers, 350 power units, and 150 ISO container chassis to accommodate all client needs. Additionally, in its 36 years of business, Linden Bulk Transportation has earned recognition from many industry associations for its strict observance of safety protocol in its operations.

The topic of safety is an important one in the conversation surrounding the trucking industry, as data presented by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) shows that motor vehicle accidents are the number one cause of work-related death by injury. In addition, the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries shows that truck and sales driving are the seventh most dangerous job in America.

To combat the dangers posed by work in trucking, freight, and transportation, conscientious companies adhere strictly to several industry-wide guidelines and regulations designed to protect both drivers and those who encounter them on the road. According to an article posted by past National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC) chairman Dean Kaplan, some of the best steps that companies can take to protect their employees and others is to maintain comprehensive hiring and training programs for new employees and to talk actively about safety, holding meetings on the subject at regular intervals.
